By Car:
From Madrid::
Extremadura A5 dual carriageway until exit 123 (Avila, Talavera, Herrera del Duque).
Head towards Avila, taking the N-502. At Ramacastañas you will find a crossroads, take right, towards Avila.
From Avila:
N-110 heading to Piedrahita and after a few km detour towards Arenas de San Pedro, N-502 road.
En autobús:
Doaldi (902 22 22 82) has buses from Madrid, Avila and Talavera.

Cuevas del Valle
The covacheros, its inhabitants, proudly affirm it and there is no mistake about it: Whoever visits this little town in Avila, at the Tiétar valley region, in the south of Gredos mountain range, sooner or later will come back.
Places to Visit
You will surrender to the harmony and peaceful of this little town environment. Even the most modern houses keep the traditional appearance — stone and rows of wooden balconies. You will even hear the elders talk about archaic units of measurement such as leguas, celemines, reales or cuartillas. At Soportales street, one of the favorites to take pictures, you will amuse yourself by discovering some of the faces carved on the wooden joists of the roofs. Going for a walk, you will find yourself at the Plaza Vieja, with its fountains, at the Real street, where the only house belonging to a nobleman is located (it has the stone coat of arms), the old Town Council and the church (from the end of 15th century), at the highest point of town. |
